The William C. Carter Ph.D. Dissertation Award in Dependability is presented annually at DSN. It is jointly sponsored by the IEEE Technical Community on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance and IFIP Working Group 10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance.

The award commemorates William C. Carter and his contributions to the formation and development of the dependable-computing field, including his encouragement and mentoring of newcomers.

Eligibility and Nominations

The permanent award page describes the current eligibility rules, nomination package, and selection process. Nominees must have completed their Ph.D. defense before the nomination deadline and within the eligibility period stated in the current call. Nominations are submitted by the nominee's Ph.D. advisor.
